The Gospel According to Jesus by Chris Seay

Churches are focusing too much on what they ought not do (and when we focus on what we should NOT be doing we tend to be drawn into doing whatever we are most focused on). Seay attempts to resolve our current faltering attempt to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” not with morality (as the church tends to immediately turn to) but with relationships and gospel-centered ministry.

Stop making the church about self-righteousness and more about Jesus. The church is about the restorative work of her groom, Jesus Christ, and to be about anything other than that is to not be in proper relation in this divine marriage between the church and Christ. Restoration; what can you as an individual, and ultimately as the church in relation with Christ, do to be pursuing restoration?

No more “Gospel According to Whomever”, Seay calls us to go back to the main character of the story. Too often we put ourselves as the main character in the grand-narrative. The main character is not us, it’s Christ.
