The church is the hope of the world, living and teaching the truth of Jesus Christ. I believe this to be true, so why is it that more often than not the church feels like it’s anything but hope? Why is it that so many have a bad taste in their mouths for the institution Jesus established? Where did we go wrong?

I believe the church loses it’s way when it focuses on the wrong things. This may sound simple, but it’s easy to drift this way. I believe the “wrong thing” to focus on is the church itself! The church was never created to focus inwardly. It was meant to focus outwardly. The church must be focused on helping those who are far from God draw near to Him.

Don’t let this discount the need for spiritual maturity, growth and discipleship, for these things are the vehicle which we must look at in order to help many come to know Jesus.
