Tis the season — It’s that time of year again! The time when we hear those famous festive songs being played everywhere you turn; whether in stores as you walk the shopping aisles, on your favorite radio station, or during those commercial ads from your favorite TV show. We see festive decorations from the street on the front of many houses and within our home. It’s a wonderful time of the year. We all know when Christmas is here and the New Year is around the corner.
Tis the Season
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for all to enjoy, especially when it comes to all those delicious meals that are only made for this occasion. As a Christian, we take this time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ coming into this world although this may not be the exact time of his birth, we chose this day regardless which is celebrated around the world as well.
For me the most exciting part of Christmas as most of you could agree is the time when we can open our Christmas presents, the thought of “what’s inside this box” or the idea of “could this be the gift I’ve been waiting for” is fun bringing lots and lots of anticipation in the process however this time could also be the moment where you receive something you were not expecting taking you by surprise such as an ugly wooly sweater which looked like it shouldn’t have been made or a box set of a TV series which you didn’t like nor had the interest in watching, to be fair the thought alone is what really matters.
Reflecting on the Season
Looking back at my time growing up, in my family we had a tradition when it came to opening our presents, me and my sisters had to eat breakfast first before anyone could open their gifts which were nicely wrapped under that Christmas tree however sometimes the things we received weren’t always what we wanted but nonetheless they were gifts we would use later on, for example; there were numerous occasions of me receiving deodorant, it wasn’t a gift I was expecting but nonetheless it did come in handy later down the line.
Yes, Tis the Season to be jolly especially for us Christians, this time of the year we get to hear as well as watch all those famous nativity stories being played or performed being reminded in the process on how the savior of the world came into this world gaining a glimpse of what life was like for those who had a part to play during this incredible time in history.
The Reason for the Season
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:11
As you celebrate Christmas remember to enjoy your time with your families and loved ones not forgetting to celebrate the birth of Jesus who is our Lord and Savior who came into this world to restore the relationship that was once lost.
