Zondervan Introduces Believe, NIV: A Topical Abridgement of the Bible to Help Readers Discover the Key Beliefs, Practices and Virtues of the Christian Faith
A Follow-Up to Leading Christian Book Publisher’s Popular, The Story, Believe Guides Readers on How to Think, Act & Be Like Jesus
A goal of many Christians is to lead a more Christ-like life, with the Bible serving as the ultimate guide. Believe, NIV, a spiritual growth experience from General Editor Randy Frazee, senior minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, is designed to help those who seek this goal. Releasing on the heels of Zondervan’s top-selling Bible, The Story, Believe is designed as an easy-to-follow topical abridgment of the best-selling New International Version of the Bible, focusing on the 30 key beliefs, practices and virtues intended to help readers uncover the core truths of the Christian faith and apply them to their lives.
Believe, NIV guides readers through the 10 key beliefs of the Christian faith, 10 key practices of a Jesus-follower, and 10 key virtues that characterize someone who is becoming more like Jesus. It is divided into 30 chapters that address one of the following three questions: “What do I believe?”, “What should I do?” and “Who am I becoming?” Chapters begin with a key idea and a key verse followed by a thoughtful immersion of Scripture that directly relates to the key belief, practice or virtue. Questions for personal reflection and interactive discussion make Believe ideal for use by either individuals or groups.
Believe, NIV follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, The Story, which is a chronological abridgement of the NIV Bible, presenting the Bible as one continuous story from beginning to end in 31 chapters. More than four million lives have been impacted by The Story through individual, small group and whole church participation.
“Believe is intended to deepen discipleship and help Christians live the story of the Bible,” said John Kramp, Senior Vice President, Bible Group Publisher for Harper Collins Christian Publishing. “Presenting the Bible in topical order takes readers on a journey that dives deeper into understanding the key beliefs, practices and virtues that allow us to think, act and be like Jesus. What a person believes drives everything in their life, and Believe is a great way to take one’s spiritual journey to the next level. We hope it will impact the hearts and minds of everyone who reads it.”
A companion book, Think, Act, Be Like Jesus, will release jointly with Believe, NIV in January 2015. Written by Randy Frazee with Robert Noland, this 256-page book explains how to grow as a follower of Christ and become more like Him in our thinking, actions and character. It can be read either in conjunction with Believe or separately as an individual study. Additional titles and curriculum for all ages will release in summer of 2015 for churches that want to walk through Believe together as an entire congregation, as more than 6,000 churches have completed The Story.
