I was incredibly encouraged to receive this note from Crossway Books. As many of you may know, they are a non-for-profit publication with an extremely keen vision to see the message of the Gospel stretch out into the ends of the earth. They’re not all talk — and this is a great example of their efforts. See this special message from Crossway’s president, Lane Dennis:

Our greatest passion at Crossway, as a not-for-profit ministry, is to reach the people of the world with the Gospel and the life-transforming Truth of God’s Word. Simply stated, “The Gospel . . . is the power of God for salvation” (Romans 1:16). And apart from the Gospel—graciously revealed by God in the pages of the Bible—people everywhere are utterly lost and without hope. But in many places throughout India, Africa, and Asia, there are few Bibles and almost no doctrinally sound Bible study resources.
Meeting This Need on a Massive Scale
This is why I’ve written this blog post . . . to ask (if the Lord should lead you) to consider making a gift of support to help meet this need on a massive scale—that is, to distribute 250,000 free copies of the ESV Global Study Bible, to strategic leaders in strategic places, where the need is greatest. And in addition to this, to provide the Global Study Bible free digitally, online and through mobile apps on an equally massive scale.
To accomplish this goal, three friends of Crossway have graciously provided matching grants of nearly $500,000, toward the total of more than $1,000,000 needed to complete the Global Study Bible project. Our prayer is that the Lord may move many who read this post to provide the remaining $500,000 needed for the project, by midnight, December 31, 2014.
In many places throughout Africa, India, and other parts of Asia, the church has few Bibles and almost no doctrinally sound Bible study resources.
In light of this, Crossway is seeking to distribute 250,000 copies of the ESV Global Study Bible to church leaders where the need is greatest, and to provide the Global Study Bible for free online and through mobile apps on a massive scale.
