How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don’t know
My weakness I feel I must finally show
Awake my soul
Awake my soul
– Mumford & Sons

The soul is a funny thing. We feel it. We believe it exists. Yet, we can’t quite put our finger on it. There’s something of a beautiful abyss that exists within each of us. A mystery uncovered in our pursuit of life and understandings of the beyond. The soul invites us into a conversation that there is more to us that what we see with our eyes. There is a feeling from our hearts, our being, that calls us to know the soul.

We may be skeptical about the soul. We don’t often think of it until crap hits the fan. When our world start spinning out of control and we beginning to feel this sense of loss… we experience it in our souls. We may say that we are emotionally out of balance or unstable. I believe that soul health and soul care are essential in maintaining a health whole self. Just as we must take care of ourselves physically, we must care of our health emotionally and spiritually. Soul care begins in the balance of emotional and spiritual health.

Jon brings us insights on how to care for the soul in his book Soul Keeping. His main writings comes from his own personal pursuit of the soul through the relationship built with one of his mentors, Dallas Willard. Jon shares a perspective that elevates soul care above anything else. He believes it to be the crux of healthy living.

Soul Keeping is an excellent read for anyone seeking balance in an ever shifting world.
